THE ROYAL CARIBBEAN SERIES PART 2- THE GIFT

THIS REVIEW DOES NOT CONTAIN SPOILERS

The Gift is a Royal Caribbean original play created just for the Anthem of the Seas. This was the first show that we saw while on the ship. The stage crew and actors only held this performance once at the very beginning of the trip.

After loosing his wife to illness, a tugboat captain and his children become stranded. The poor captain and his children fall into a deep depression and as they feel that all hope is lost. One faithful evening, a mysterious gift appears on the boat. What is in it? Who's to know. The only way to find out is to open it. But once opened, the magic inside is unleashed on the unsuspecting family as they are taken away by ghosts whose only purpose are to help the troubled family make peace with what has happened in their lives and find a way to be a loving family again.

I would love to tell you more about the actual plot points, but I don't want to ruin it.

(THIS IS A PHOTO I TOOK OF THE STAGE BEFORE THE SHOW - IT IS ALSO THE PHOTO I TOOK DUE TO THEIR STRICT NO CAMERA POLICY)

I have to say, I really enjoyed this show. They wrote the script around songs such as "Right Now" by Van Halen. I found the music was fun and made sense with the story. The choreography was fast paced and spot on. You also had a sense that the cast really had fun with this show. I was able to pull up a video from Youtube below. It features the end of the show during the curtain call. It is a great example of the type of music that was featured in the performance.

(VIDEO PROVIDED VIA YOUTUBE)

I went into the show not knowing much about it. I came out of the show excited to see the another one. The cast in this show was also featured in their other show on the ship, "We Will Rock You." I give the show a 4 out of 5. I enjoyed the acting ability of many on stage and I truly hope to see them in other things in the future. I would have loved to have featured their names in this review, but I sadly could not find anything on them during my research.
