I have been wanting to see this movie for a long time, but never got around to It. Honestly, the poster creeped me out a lot. From what I've read of the movie, the plot involved some poor schmo named Kent who decides to put on a dirty old clown outfit that he finds in a house that he owns and in renovating in order to make sure his kid has a clown for his birthday. Little does he know is that the clown suit is actually the skin of a demon that is disguised as a clown costume.
The plot may sound corny and possibly dumb, but it's not at all. At first we see the guy struggle to try to get the suit off. The wig won't budge, the nose hurts when he pulls at it and the suit itself seems stuck. It's not until we see the suit start to change and his personality start to change that the creep factor kicks in.
As a father, I found it difficult to watch the scenes where the clown would hunt children. This is not something I particularly enjoyed at all. However, knew this was what the film intended. I felt that the film makers wanted us to see how much the demon effected the man wearing the suit. The demon needed to be defeated, even if it meant the death of Kent.
When considering the dark nature of the film and the obvious battle between good and evil, I recommend that "Clown" should definitely be added to any Halloween Movie watching list. It gives you the scares and is creeping beyond what I was expecting. I give the film a 3.5 out of 5 stars, which is a great score for horror. The only people who I wouldn't recommend this film to are to those who are afraid of clowns. This film would definitely scar them for life.
Jusr remember, don't put on a clown suit you find in a weird box chained to a wall. You're better off just buying one from the local party store.
