Before I go into Robert Kelly's act, I want to talk about the club itself. Laugh It Up is located inside Mahoney's Irish Pub & Steakhouse in Pouhkeepsie, NY on the second floor. The ground floor where we came in was more of a sports bar vibe. I really liked it and look to come back for that aspect personally. The second floor had a host stand and another bar. It seemed like this area had more of a sit down dinner vibe to it. The actual club was in the back in a separate room away from everyone things and had it's own feelntp it. I am personally looking into the history of the building because it seems like the building itself may have been some sort of factory in the past. The owners have really taken advantage of the space of each floor and repurposed it in an amazing way.

The set up of the room itself was great. There is nothing more I hate than walking into a comedy club and being seating in a chair that has my back to the comedian. It's uncomfortable and annoying. This was not the case at Laugh It Up. The tables were set up to give optimal viewing. They seemed to care about that. The food was the best I've seen in a club so far as they served the food from the restaurant. I had the buffalo wings, they were very good. Drinks were spot on, the bartenders were excellent. My wife enjoyed three chocolate caramel martinis that were perfect.

THE HOST

Ritu Chandra played the roll of the host of the evening. She gave us a solid 5 minute set to get us warmed up. Her jokes were funny. Some of it had to do with how she went to school to be a big time business person and her husband expected her to be a major contributor to the household and then she opted to do comedy after graduation. Very funny stuff.

THE FEATURE

The second comedian of the night was Mike Feeney. I see this guy becoming a house hold name soon. His jokes were on point and his act was well thought out. He knew how to play The crowd and looked to have fun doing it. He had us laughing for the full duration of his stand up routine. The wife and I will make sure to follow his career. He's going to really take off.

THE HEADLINER

Robert Kelly. Really that's all I need to say. The man's name says it all. The man is a comedic genius. At least I think so. He would bring very sad subjects such as his sister who has kidney issues and he turned that into just about the funniest bit I've heard. I really enjoyed his comedy. I was really happy when he poked fun at one of the restaurant's employees who looked exactly like him. It was great that he caught that. I also enjoy when comedians call out people in the audience who seem to have no idea who they came to see. It's makes my night, it really does. People, please do your research before you come out to a show. It would make your night much better. Trust me.

Thank you to Laugh It Up and Robert Kelly for providing a great night of entertainment. We look to not only be back to Laugh It Up, but also see Robert Kelly again on the road. Maybe a little closer to home next time. This was a 5 star evening.
